Tahany Alsabahi will graduate with honors from Star International Academy. There, she participated in multiple clubs while simultaneously serving as a board member of several other student-led organizations. Throughout her high school career she has served as Class Representative of the Student Advisory Committee, Treasurer of Student Government, Parliamentarian Historian of the National Honor Society, and this year as President of the National Honor Society. In addition to in-school activities, Tahany has also participated in academic contests including Explor-a-vision and National History Day, the latter of which she was named a national finalist. Moreover, she is always active in the community; be it volunteering in soup kitchens, park clean-ups, tutoring, or fundraising, she is always willing to help.
As for Tahany’s future goals, she plans on matriculating to University of Michigan—Ann Arbor’s this coming fall. As an Honors student there, she plans to double major in International Studies and Middle Eastern & North African Studies in the hopes of possibly going into Civil Rights or International Humanitarian Law. Ultimately, her dream job is to be a social activist within ethnic American communities, focusing on the struggles minority youth face due to internalized racism.
