Eleni Pitses, a senior at University Liggett School, looks forward to continuing her studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she plans to major in either chemical engineering or chemistry. She has completed the most advanced chemistry curriculum offered at her school and performed an independent study of chemistry her senior year, for which she performed organic synthesis labs. She will work at a biochemistry lab at Wayne State University for a senior project. Some of her academic awards include the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, earned her junior year, and her junior year induction into the Cum Laude Society.
Outside of the classroom, Eleni participates in peer tutoring, celebration of her Greek heritage, track and field and soccer. Starting from her freshman year on Liggett’s varsity soccer team, she has earned all-conference honors and was named team most valuable player her junior year. She hopes to continue her soccer career on the varsity team at MIT.
