He got involved with the robotics team in his first year, and by ninth grade, his team won second place in the world at the First Tech Challenge international competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Zaahid enjoys playing both tennis and soccer for his school.
Zaahid has spent over 300 hours volunteering and shadowing in hospitals locally, and internationally. During the summer of his junior year, Zaahid spent seven weeks researching a novel treatment method for Glioblastoma, and wrote a full 20 page research paper outlining a new, potential metabolic treatment for brain cancer. He also spent a portion of his summer in Portland, Oregon working at OHSU. There, Zaahid worked with a group of parents of kids that died of various cancers, and wrote a medical research paper outlining future Hepatoblastoma research.
Zaahid is currently interning at Taubman Centers and Raymond James Financial. He hopes to study economics at Harvard next year, and possibly pursue a career in medicine or finance.
