Megan Cansfield will graduate with honors from Dexter High School. She was a three-year member of the varsity field hockey team, serving as captain her senior year. She participated in varsity track & field for four years and was a captain for two years. Megan has played the clarinet since 5th grade, and was rated a First Division Soloist at multiple MSBOA Band & Orchestra festivals at both the District and State levels. She has been a part of the DHS Symphonic Band since her sophomore year. She has also been involved in Marching Band and Rotary Interact Club, holding leadership positions in both. In addition, Megan was chosen to represent Dexter High School at Girls State in 2012. She is the recipient of a National Security Language Initiative for Youth scholarship to study abroad in China this summer. Academically, Megan maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA, was a member of the National Honor Society and was recognized as one of five Dexter students on the 2013 SEC All-Academic Team.
Megan will be attending the University of Michigan in the Honors Program for the College of Literature, Science and the Arts. She plans to major in International Studies and aspires to a career in the Foreign Service. Her goals for the future include becoming multilingual and volunteering with the US Peace Corps after college graduation.
