Matthew Krawczyk(Kraw-zick) will graduate this June as the Valedictorian of Henry Ford Academy in Dearborn. He has over a 4.26 GPA and scored a 30 on his ACT. He received many best in class awards including Pre-Calculus, Physics, AP English Literature and Geometry. He attends Dual Enrollment classes at Henry Ford Community College for the majority of his day. Also, Matthew competed in the University of Michigan Mars Rover design contest with a classmate and won 3rd place.
The majority of Matt's free time throughout his four years at high school were spent on the local FIRST(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics team: The Gator-Bots. He was a member of the four person Drive Team all four years, making it to the State Championship twice. During these four years Matt grew to become recognized as a team leader, teaching and training new, upcoming team members. This experience led to his eventual college and career decisions. He will be attending Michigan Technological University in the fall pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is undecided as to what specific career focus to strive for, but is very interested in aerospace and defense systems. Matt plans to take the most important lesson that he learned in FIRST Robotics throughout college and life: Failure Is Real Student Training.
