Kara Gardner will graduate with highest honors from Algonac High School. She has participated in a wide range of activities throughout her high school career. Kara has been on the Varsity Swim team during all four years, becoming captain her senior year. She earned a medal in the 100 yard breaststroke her junior year, and qualified for the county championships her senior year. Kara is also a member of the Algonac High School Marching and Symphonic Band. Since her sophomore year, she has been the Drum Major of the marching band. Kara is a participant in other organizations as well, including being a Committee Chair in the National Honor Society and a member of Student Council. Outside of school, she participates in and raises money for the Detroit Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and also tutors students who struggle in math.
In addition to all of these activities, Kara is also a member of the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. She also took AP Statistics her sophomore year and received a score of 4 out of 5 on the AP test, earning her the Excellence in AP Statistics Award. She will leave Algonac High School with a G.P.A. of 4.5. Kara will be attending Eastern Michigan University where she plans to major in psychology. She plans on becoming an educational psychologist. Kara is the daughter of Chris and Michele Gardner of Algonac.
